The world’s largest sea freight forwarder, Kuehne+Nagel, announced on Wednesday that it has received the first Boeing 747-8F freighter, which will be put into operation to expand its air cargo network.

The Boeing 747-8F freighter, named “Inspire”, is the first of two long-term leased aircraft from Atlas Air, with the second expected to be delivered in the first quarter of next year. These two planes will increase Kuehne+Nagel’s air transport capacity by nearly 280 tons.
Kuehne+Nagel stated in a statement that this aircraft will provide highly reliable services for its customers, shorten transportation time, and minimize risks.
The freighter will operate on trans-Pacific routes and will also be connected to Kuehne+Nagel’s internal transport network in Asia, providing better transportation services for customers in this rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region. The company said, “This is a strategic move based on long-term customer demand, and it will be fully utilized.”
According to Kuehne+Nagel, the Boeing 747-8F freighter plays an extremely important role in global air cargo transportation, and its advanced technology can achieve lower fuel consumption, greater capacity, and unique nose-loading capabilities.
With its advanced design and engines, the 747-8F consumes 16% less fuel and emits 16% less carbon per ton compared to the previous generation aircraft, and its noise footprint is reduced by 30%.
John Dietrich, President and CEO of Atlas Air, said: “The delivery of this 747-8F freighter highlights the importance of our long-term strategic partnership with Kuehne+Nagel and our commitment to support its continued growth and expansion.”
“We are pleased to provide them with the first dedicated aircraft, which will proudly fly in Kuehne+Nagel’s custom livery. We will operate these two freighters for Kuehne+Nagel, adding more capacity and versatility to its transport network.”
